 Artist Details:

Mark is one of the most skilled pencil artists in his field. He produces exceptionally detailed pieces portraying a wide variety of subjects in black and white, or colour. Whilst currently best known for equestrian portraits Mark started his career with a series of railway studies as a teenager. These unusually accurate pencil studies defined the style for which he is now known. These works typically took in excess of 70 hours to complete and are particularly notable for their accurate expression of the atmosphere and grime of the steam age. These studies also show Mark’s ability to achieve the depth and contrast indicative of a great drawing at an early age. Mark trained as an illustrator, designer and photographer, winning a number of competitions whilst at college. He has been working as a designer and commercial artist since graduating in 1995. This varied experience enabled him to develop a unique style and feel for his subjects which has enabled him to create pictures with soul. Mark’s style is photo-realistic and he usually works in pencil or colour pencil because these media enable him to portray a far greater level of detail and accuracy than any other. More examples of Mark's work can be seen on his website www.mark-langley.com. Mark is also available for commission.
