I have been a professional artist for more than thirty years, moving to my present studio/galley in the Staffordshire Moorlands some seven years ago. Over the years I have had my work accepted at many galleries throughout the midlands: Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and R.B.S.A. At the present time I teach weekend painting courses in watercolour and hold evening classes in mixed media. I am also involved in the design of company logos, murals and trompe l’oeil for both businesses and private customers.
As an artist my love of and interest in the diversity of ‘things’ around me have not been sated. This is reflected in my approach to painting, whilst the medium may vary to suite the subject in hand, representational work usually falling to watercolour and my more impressionistic work to oils, the fundamental desire to interpret never diminishes.
Like all crafts men I have preferences regarding my favourite subjects, but hope I endorse everything I paint with as much detail, care and originality as I can. I hope my enjoyment of the process of painting is self evident as I continue to explore the infinite possibilities around me.
I was recently awarded the Derbyshire Trophy for ‘the most outstanding work submitted’ in the Derbyshire Open Painting Competition 2005.
