Artist Details:
I am a sculptor whose main medium is stone. I enjoy directly carving onto the stone without the use of drawings and marquettes. I find that in this way I have the freedom to respond to the stone itself. I see my art as a dialogue between myself and the stone. The subject matter of my work is mainly of the female form although some of my pieces are more abstract. I work in a range of different stones from local limestone-hoptonwoodstone,english alabaster,soapstone from cornwall and from as far away as Zimbabwe. I am inspired by African and Indian artists who talk about finding the essence of the stone.I also undertake commissions. Website:
